Hello everyone,
I really enjoyed using my 15" Powerbook, but I felt that I needed something more portable and I have ordered & received my 12" Powerbook.
I have tons of data (itunes library, iphoto library) applications that I have purchased, etc.
What is the best method to bring all my data back to the new PB without loosing any valuable settings? Can I just copy the whole folder under Users to my external 300GB drive then to my 12"? I noticed that mostly everything is in there.
Thanks in advance,
Dannye

Your new PowerBook will ask if you have an old computer you want to transfer settings from. You just have to connect them with a firewire cable and you'll have all your settings and so forth on the new computer.

It should. I can't remember if there are any exceptions off-hand.

If your new PB12 is indeed new, then it will have Tiger and the Migration Assistant application. My suggestion would be to hook the old PB to the new PB via a firewire cable and boot the old PB in target mode (hold down the T key during boot up) so it will look like an external hard disk for the new one. The migration manager on the new PB will ask you what you want to transfer - Settings, Applications, User Accounts, Networking, etc.
I just upgraded my PB15 from Panther to Tiger and first cloned my hard drive to an external disk first. The migration manager did a great job of making the whole job a breeze.
By the way, you will first want to de-authorize your old computer in iTunes BEFORE you transfer your data. You will then register your new one in iTunes.
Good luck.
