A internet company's website I was investigating about getting a job seems to have gone offline, first there was this ...
Code:
<html><body> <b>www.theWebsite.com</b> (.)<P></body></html>
..and now the url is saying that there is no website configured.
Typing (.) into google returns nothing, as in not even a "no matches, did you mean....? "
Hmmm, anyone know the meaning of the symbol? ( it might help me get the job )

Google will not return any matches because Google doesn't match punctuation (strings like "??" and "+/-" also return no results). I don't see how the string "(.)" would constitute a hack in any way, either. It's just parentheses and a period.

Thought it might be a signature of a hacking group or something, I remember all the index sites of a friend of mine getting hacked with a '... liberation army of ******" as a message.
It was probably the company itself, doing a server upgrade or something, just not very informative while doing it.

Oh, I missed what you were saying. Yeah, most hackers don't exactly try to play subtle with their messages. It'll usually be like, "LOL OWNED BY 1337\/\/3|3H4XX0R!"
