How do you use the the F8 key on a 17" PowerBook. I'm trying to use it but when i hit the key it gives me the turn backlight of the keyboard function. I need F8. Can anyone tell me. Thanks.

Press it along with the "fn" key on the lower left corner of the keyboard.

Press the fn key first though.

If you prefer not to have to use the fn key, you can invert the F key actions in System Preferences>Keyboard & Mouse>Keyboard and choose whichever option you prefer for the F keys. Personally, I have it so that I have to press the fn key to activate the brightness/volume/num lock etc keys so that I don't inadvertently press those options while typing.
