After the 10.4.8 update I lost the ability to put my MBP to sleep by closing the lid. I'm aware of a few others that have similar issues. I was hoping the firmware update released yesterday would solve the issue, but it did not. Has anyone managed to fix this?

I experienced the same problem. Zapped the PRAM and installed the Macbook Pro firmware update and haven't had it since. Of course YMMV.

I installed that update and reset my PRAM, it seemed fine the first few times I closed the lid, however now it just won't sleep again, like it was doing before. Very annoying...

This is getting very frustrating. I may have to make a trip to an Apple Store too if this doesn't get resolved soon.

Bring it back!

I might return mine as well - when connecting an external monitor I must close the MBP's lid and open it three times before the external stays on consistantly.

Also wake from sleep issues where it takes a few minutes to wake up - a few times I had to hard boot because it wouldn't wake up at all.

Also also: the case is lifting from the chassis, so that when I use the keyboard it makes a squeaky noise from the movement.

Also also wik: The trackpad seems lazy and unresponsive at times, despite it being set to fastest. The trackpad must be touched first (as if to wake it up) then it can be used normally.

Looks like its a widespread issue. Mine is a Rev A, how about you guys? Whenever sleep works It has the "slow awake with the flash of a blue screen" issue discussed in another thread. Its really annoying me now.

I've had that blue screen as well. I've had this MBP for maybe 4 weeks now and the past week and a half it's been having these sleep issues. I installed Apple's most recent update to fix the issue and I see no difference what so ever these past few days.

Just an update:

I sent my MBP to apple and they seem to have replaced the top casing to fix the sleep issue.

I also had the stupid CPU whine and my battery used to drain soon. They have replaced the logic board and my battery. The computer seems to run a lot more cooler now. I'm yet to look for the whine.
