A coworker of mine is looking to buy a digital video camera for around $500. Can anyone here suggest some brands/models, or links to reviews? She said she's had problems in the past with her digital camera not playing nice with her Mac in the past, so she wants to make sure her new camera will do so.
Thanks very much.

Canon + AVCHD + SD card... which would currently be the HF M300 at $550. Consumer Reports likes it too.
iMovie '09 supports AVCHD by converting it to Apple Intermediate during import.

Does she want a DSLR or a compact?
DSLR: get a Rebel.
I don't use compacts.

Thank you everyone for your comments. I don't know if she's getting compact or DSLR, but I'll forward this info to her.
Thanks,
-Rob

OP says "digital video camera" which I assumed that meant camcorder, but I guess it could mean a compact or DSLR that does video poorly.
