If I select sleep from the apple menue on my iMac, the comupter goes to sleep, fan dies down and the light begins to pulse....however if I let the computer go to sleep itself, the screen will go off and it seems like it's in a sleep state, but there is no pulsing light and the fan is on like normal operation...I've tried to use a different setting, turning off putting the display to sleep seperately, checking and unchecking put hard drive to sleep...nothing.

Any ideas?

Which OS are you using? And what are your exact sleep and display sleep settings?
