I'm one of those people who think that the 12" Powerbook G4 has the best form factor of all Apple portables.
Disappointed that Apple has not released a small Macbook (yet), I decided to upgrade my Powerbook.
I've just replaced the hard drive to Seagate's 160 Go monster drive. (2,5" 9.5mm).
Replacing the internal drive in the PB was a bit hairy, but the upgrade went OK.
RAM has been maxed out at 1,256 Go. (pity it cannot take 2 Go...)

It works! I've now ordered a new large capacity battery. The 12" Powerbook fights on!

You really upgraded the little beast, didn't you?

I am in the same position as you are actually. I have a DL Superdrive that I need to install, but I am also considering upgrading to the MacBook. Or maybe I should just get the 160GB HDD too and keep on using my beloved Powerbook...

Ah, I just had my mind set up on the MacBook! Now I am rethinking it :|

What's "Go?" I've never heard of "Go" used in place of "GB" (gigabyte).

I know this isn't a iBooke thread, but I was thinking of doing the samething to my iBook 12"
The macbook is interesting, but still to buggy and hot for everyday use
It is also bigger footprint even though it is thinner.
a thin 12 Macbook pro would be awesome the epiphany of apple portables.

Yeah, the 12" form factor is great for travellers and road warriors. I'd buy a 12" Macbook or an 11" Macbook in a heartbeat if there was one.
So far, the upgrade to a better hard drive (160Gb) is working out great.

Well the OP also uses a , as a decimal, I thought only Europeans did that, but apparently he/she is in Tokyo, so maybe the Japanese do too? Anyway, the Go is probably a foreign term for GB.

The MacBook is not actually all that much bigger compared to a 12" iBook or PB, it's just wider. Remember that screens are measured corner-to-corner. I think a 13" widescreen LCD is actually a tiny bit shorter than a 12" non-widescreen.

There are many reasons why I picked a used 12" PB to upgrade to instead of a MacBook, but the form factor wasn't one of them....
