Any one know how long my PowerBook is going to take to get from Taipei to London? and does it go to the Cork plant first?
The tracking says it shipped and "departed from product source for merge" on the 19th (I only ordered on the 17th) I am surprised as my Pismo took eight weeks to come and it wasn't even BTO!!!

Any one else in the UK ordered one?

Once it leaves TPE, it is going to the destination. All PowerBooks are completed in Taiwan.

I recently purchased a PBTi500 through the Apple UK Educational store in the UK. Arrived 9.10, requested return 16.10, within the 7 day grace period, for obvious reasons...phew. Now, plan to re-purchase this weekend.

The route for the above was Tapei > Luxembourg > Cork > London. I think this is standard because the web tracking for Kuhne & Nagel (the courier for the Far East Asian part of the itinerary) was fairly impenetrable, so I got the route confirmed by the Apple reps. Wonder what happens in reverse...

Enjoy your new purchase

Thanks Appleseed,

Kuehne & Nagel is now showing my PowerBook as having reached Luxemburg on the 22nd, having left Taipei on the 19th. Next stop Cork? If it is it will travel over my house in London on its way to Ireland and then come back again!

I am hoping it will be with me by the end of the week.

How can you track kuehne & nagel????

On my applestore site it says shipping via: TNT Nederland, but when I click on the link it says KUEHNE & NAGEL HIGH TECH LOGISTICS.
It only says _shipment picked up 14.10. but where is it now?????

Is there any way I can track it, except the one on https://applestore.bridge-point.com.

Can I track it directly from the Carrier Website?

I really need it tomorrow! I have a presentation on monday with some realtime 3D stuff, and without my powerbook I must travel my desktop linux box for the presentation, this would be a pain .

So anybody knows how to track better....
please answer, it's very important for me!!!!!

ps: is there anywhere a good swiss forum? perhaps I can ask the question there....

as far as I know all shipments go from Taipei to Luxemburg (5 or 6 days) then to Utrecht (Apples Powerbook distribution and repair centree for Europe) and then to your nearest airport etc..

Call Apple for the tnt numbers

I called apple, but they will get the number tomorrow or monday... so I must wait... I'm so impatient! To know that my powerbook is a few kilometers away from me makes me crazy. If I could, I would go to Luxembourg to pick it up

thanks for the info

Hello, I'm waiting for my brand new White Spots PB 15" (just being cynical - I so KNOW it will happen) to arrive this afternoon. Here's a tip I used to track my shipment:

follow the link on the Order Status page to the KUEHNE & NAGEL tracking page. when you see that the shipment is already in Europe, copy the tracking number of your order and go to the TNT website of your country (it's www.tnt.nl for the Netherlands, for example).
Enter (paste) the tracking number in the input box BUT click on Reference number and NOT on Tracking number. Then click on "track shipment" and you will have the correct status of your order.
Foir example, the K&N website is saying since yesterday that my package is in Utrecht.
But on the TNT website it says that it arrived in amsterdam yesterday and it's out for delivery this morning!

Hope this helps.

Neither the TNT or Kuehne & Nagel tracking systems have worked for my order (ordered on the 17th Sep, shipped from Taipei on 11th Oct), however the Apple status page lists my order as now being in Luxembourg.

I just got off the phone with Bernice at the Apple Store and she tells me that my order is now in the handover process between K&N and TNT. If I call them back on Monday they'll provide me with a consignment number to use on the TNT system...

They said me exactly the same! But I will try it tomorrow again The apple store girl had a nice voice on the phone
Until now my only tracking number is from the apple store site. TNT doesn't worked, but I think they are in the handover process.
So it might be work tomorrow.

I also have a PB in Luxembourg, ordered 19-09-03. This is what I got from Apple:

Code:
BRENTHAVEN PROFESSIONAL 15" BACKPACK-USA: Activity Location Date / Time (GMT) Shipment Picked Up VENRAY, LI, NL 15 Oct 2003 14:16 Arrive Terminal LUXEMBOURG, LU, LU 17 Oct 2003 13:21 PBG4 15.2/1.25GHZ/512/80/CMBO/AP/BL/DK: Activity Location Date / Time (GMT) Shipment Picked Up TAIPEI, TP, TW 14 Oct 2003 14:35 Arrive Terminal LUXEMBOURG, LU, LU 17 Oct 2003 05:38
It seems strange, the Order Status page says the shipment is via Venray, NL. The backpack was picked up in Venray and now it's in Luxembourg!?

Then I suppose the shipment from now on is from Luxembourg to Denmark.

That's nothing, I've got a Power adapter that's been for a short holiday in Luxembourg...

Someone somewhere will have thought that sending it that way was efficient.

Mine must have been travelling with yours :-)

Also picked up by TNT on the 17th and destination is Modena, Italy. I think they all go through Utrecht as that is the TNT base. Mine left there last night at 22.00. I'm hoping for a Monday delivery ;-)

Guess yours will arrive then as well.

Well, the Apple tracking page still shows 2/3 (PowerBook and additional AC adapter) of my order still sitting in Utrecht, with the other 1/3 (slip case) still yet to be dispatched.

But the TNT tracking page shows it now to be in the UK in Northampton - only 138 miles away!

Yipee!

My 12" Combo PowerBook just arrived at home. Ordered 9th Oct.

The TNT site updated very well througout the last few days and I saw it arrived in the local TNT office before I went to work. Just missed it by an hour. Ah well.

This is going to be a long day at work waiting to go home...

It's arrived! And there's only one word to describe it ... Damn! This is one beautiful laptop. Pretty cold to the touch but the fit and finish is superb. And even tho' it's only running on 512Mb it seems pretty fast compared to my Dual 867 MDD (with 2Gb)

Update...

* No latch problems,
* Runs absolutely silent,
* Uniform gap right the way round when the lid is closed - leaves about 1mm space between the rubber bumpers and lower half of PowerBook.
*And the dreaded whitespots have yet to occur - touch wood.

Need to log in as root and fix a couple of things - US keyboard input reappears after restart.

And I haven't quite got used to the Trackpad yet - hey, my Duo (280c - retired as of today) had a trackball!

Snif, snif, I expected it to be already with Panther. Mine is on the way, I will have to spend extra cash for Panther.

At least it qualifies for the Panther up-to-date. I got the invoice for it a week ago - fortunately with the S/N printed on it, so I actually ordered the up-to-date before I received my PB. But at least it's only an extra 13.99.

However I still have to buy one of the family licenses for the rest of the household...

Congrats!!! Nice to hear that everything is ok.

Now I can track my order via www.tnt.com. This is what the site tells me:

Code:
20 Oct 2003, 09:17, Luxembourg, SHIPPED FROM ORIGINATING DEPOT
So it's in transit. But shipped from originating depot beats me.

So, I guess the route via Utrecht, NL is not used when shipping to Denmark.

Got mine PB today! I'm so impressed by this fine piece of engineering.

No problems yet, no dead and stocked pixels. Haven't found any white spots.

Playing Q3A is very smooth.

The only thing that I can complain a little about is some strange noise from the HD, a bit high pitched and sizzling, but this is only when using Safari. That's odd.

YES!!!! It finally happened. Oh, btw, the Brenthavn backpack is da bomb!

Congratulations, I bet you were as speechless as I was when mine arrived.

Which Brenthaven backpack did you get? The professional one? After doing a bit of research I found out that the 15" actually fits in the cheaper, and IMHO better looking, iBook version...

Macbidouille has an interesting explanation for the route via Utrecht here: http://www.macbidouille.com/niouzcon...ate=2003-10-21

Short sumary:

They're stating that all delivered PowerBooks go first to holland in order to be repaired before the customers get them. This basically means that Apple not only knows about the problem but also has an easy appliable fix for it. It also means that your order will take up to one week longer to be delivered. I just got mine today, it went through Utrecht and the screen is simply perfect (I know, this doesn't mean anything. But I'm confident now that it also stays like this). This is truly good news for all of us. I guess it's now time to send those machines in that have the dreaded white spots. I'm feeling with you earliest of the early adaptor guys!
