Just out of interest and maybe to spread the love how about naming the 3 hot apps/utilities that YOU think everyone should have on their Powerbook and why. (not including the obvious like Photoshop etc)

1. Disc Traker - with over 120 CD's of archives jobs its an absolute no brainer

2. VueScan - because I actually want to use my scanner in OSX (come ON apple)

3. Unsanity Clear Dock - because it makes it look much much nicer!!

Hi, I'll share my top 3 with you:

candybar - which replaces system icons with cooler ones of your choice and all done automatically

maxmenus - which I have customized to hotkey folders like apps, system preferences or documents, in addition to the 4 coloured corners on the screen that open menus

pacifist - which allows you to re-install separate packages of mac os X. It saved my life after I accidentally erased address book (I think it was) that is not available for separate download from apple

Colloquy - my favourite IRC app. To the point, polished, and flexible.

Firefox - because it's nice to have another browser for compatibility. Some prefer this over Safari.

Snood - the penultimate time-killer. Just don't play it at work or school with the volume up.

dockblock; gives me full-screen use (with apps like indesign & photoshop);

openmenu: customizable contextual menus, to access my apps & folders

imote: "invisible" control of itunes (from the keyboard)

there's more of course...

A lot of my faves have been named already. Some others:

DragThing - app launcher -- can make many docks, tabbed docks, etc.
MacStumbler - wireless network finder, displays signal strength etc.
WireTap - records any audio playing through your Mac

Thanks to some of the recommendations above, I'm now trying ClearDock and Firefox. Keep 'em coming!

hmmmm...
not sure, but i use imote & itunes track; gives me keyboard control of itunes, without any menubar icons etc, and a readout onscreen of song titles...nice combo!

since I carry your PowerBook on from here to there, you need something like LittleSecrets. It is very nice to feel you 'safe'

Transmit
MenuMeter
PopMonitor

The ones I enjoy the most right now. But I'd recommend Graphic Converter, IView Media and VLC to anyone that buys a new Mac.

Firefox -- Well worth the download
iTunes Library Manager -- Allows you to have more than one Library so 2 or more people can use iTunes seperately.
