Hey all,

My friend recently purchased a 'dualhead2go' digital edition (Matrox Graphics - GXM - Products - DualHead2Go Digital Edition) for his Macbook Pro 2.4 santa rosa w/ nvidia 6800m GT looking to get his dual HP 24" widescreen displays working.

The problem is that every time we try to enable the given max resolution of 3840x1200 for the dual displays, the screen starts to flicker like mad and doesn't stop unless the dualhead2go is unplugged. The next available resolution setting, 3200x1200, does work, but it is not the optimal setting so everything looks a bit warped and fuzzy.

Are there any other MBP users who actually have gotten this thing to work properly? The funny thing is that when the 3840x1200 setting is selected, the text and surrounding graphics look native, the only problem of course is the massive flickering effect.

Any help or insights would be greatly appreciated.

from the linked website:
Note: Systems operating under Mac OS® X must download the GXM Control Panel to access all DualHead resolutions.
Matrox Graphics - Support
MacBook Pro 3840x1200
(2x 1920x1200)2
*Download the GXM Control Panel to access all DualHead resolutions.
1 An Apple™ Mini-DVI to VGA adapter is required to connect to the VGA input of the DualHead2Go or TripleHead2Go device.
2 ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 may support a limited resolution list when the notebook LCD is active. This can be corrected by updating to the latest ATI drivers and EFI through the Mac OS Software Update utility.
hope that helps

What displays and what refresh rates are you using? As it says on that web page, the capabilities are display dependent.

hi, thanks for the quick responses.

We're using 2x HP 24" LP2465 model displays. When we set the resolution at 3840x1200, the refresh rate is locked in at 57 hz.

Do MacBook Pros have a dual link DVI port?

Yes, they do. In theory, you can split the digital output into two lower resolution panels, but I've never seen such an adaptor. The adaptor discussed here seems to be analog (VGA) in and digital out, which seems strange.
