I know the RAM is user-accessible. What about the HD? Would it void the warranty.

The video card is set in stone, right? No way to up the RAM on that.

Tough decision because Amazon iMac pricing is very good, and has no sales tax. Buying from Apple with the upgraded video card means about $400 for the upgrade!!!

HD can be upgraded by an Apple Authorized Service place, but not by yourself, keeping the warranty intact. If you go with a smaller shop you can probably supply the drive, which will save you some money over most computer store's prices.

Ditto for the video card, except your only upgrade option here is the Apple-blessed 7600GT which you'll have to buy from the service place.
