Hi All,
I've been trying to connect my Pismo to my office Win-LAN, DHCP or Manual IP config. The LED on the HUB was on when I attached the UTP cable. But somehow it just won't connect, it doesn't ping successfully, and it won't gain any IP from DHCP server.

I started to think that the built-in ethernet card is broken, but I do not know how to make it sure. furthermore, there is no official Apple Service Center here, so there is nowhere to consult.

Anyone has any idea ?

TIA

If it's making the link, the network interface on your Pismo is likely operational.

What's the problem exactly?

Try looking over your Ethernet settings again. You're probably doing something wrong there.

I have MacOS X 10.2 running on my pismo 400, clean installed, no classic.
The configuration I've tried were the following:
1. Manually
IP Address : 10.0.0.129
Route/Gateway: 10.0.0.130 (WinNT 2k server)
DNS server : 10.0.0.130 (WinNT 2k server)
DNS suffix : tcn.co.id (WinNT 2k server)

I tried this config identically using win98 box, and it worked fine. I can play 'ping-pong' . But not on my pismo.

2. DHCP (WinNT 2000 server running Winroute for DHCP server)
No specific IP assigned, even after refreshing the IP several times. (enable and disable the ethernet card).

I am desperately looking for any solution possible Not so long ago one of our client, brought his G4 powerbook, and with the same configuration as above, he can browse the internet smoothly, without any problems that occured to me.

Please help!

Connect everything and run Apple system profiler. It should tell you if the link's up.

Plug the machine in via ethernet, wait a few mins, and then open up Terminal. Type in "ifconfig" and post your results. Also, what OS are you currently running?
