I have a MacBook with SuperDrive... MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-857D... with Firmware KBV9.
Is there a firmware upgrade that will allow me to write 8GB dual-layer disks?
I have seen reference to such... a 2.1 upgrade... but the links no workee.
Or is that because my machine is too old and my SuperDrive won't really support that?

The original versions of the macbook will not support dual layer. Not sure exactly what generation started supporting, but the early ones did not. Mine does not

I think it's all the Core 2 MBs that support DL.
