I've been using FCP 3 for the longest time with my Sawtooth 400 MHZ G4, and I always have a DV camera plugged in so I can monitor what I'm doing on the TV right next to my computer.
When I installed FCP 4, that preview function no longer works, it doesn't output any signal to the camera, and i've been trying everything to make it work. It can "see" the camera, because I can capture stuff, but it doesn't output the signal from the timeline, even when i select "use NTSC DV blah, blah, blah for External Video" in the prefrences. Will my computer not run this software correctly, or what?
Thanks for any help,
Alyn Divine

I'm actually not sure, it's a friends camera and I don' know the model number offhand, but it's a Sony mini-dv camera, pretty small, like two years old I think. FCP 3 still works fine, but I wish I could get FCP 4 working right.

I know you said you tried everything, but when you go to view, at the bottom it says External Video, and All Frames should be selected. For some reason FCP4 resets that every time I shut it down then start it back up.
