Old. AI has a multipage thread that proves its NOT photoshopped, but it most likely isn't the iMac or an apple product.

I really hope not too. That looks like something Gateway would make for banking terminals or something.

I think it's PS work, the strokes on the screen ... kinda, slightly visible, plus the side of the box in the first pic doesn't look too convincing either ... just my thought

I don't get it; it looks just like a tablet. Could a G5 and all the necessary cooling apparatus be in such a tiny package? Then why not a G5 PowerBook?

I'm looking at the foam pieces in the box, and trying to figure out how that lcd would even fit in there with them.

My guess on the photos: first with flash, second without.

And I could be wrong, but doesn't Apple always center thier logo on their product packaging?

it looks like that box is the type that would normally carry a laptop. ie it folds down and is held together by a plastic handle. i doubt they would put a desktop computer in a box like that.

I've been keeping up with the AI thread. It is absolutely a Powerbook box. I'm not sure what that thing is in it, but if it's a new iMac, then Ives will have some 'splainin' to do.

That's what I thought. Looks like it could almost be a tablet. A big ass tablet, but still. I'd rather get a better look at it than that, but I guess we'll see for sure soon enough.

By the way, there's still a shot on the site:

http://homepage.mac.com/ihepworth/.P...s/DCP_1765.jpg

Looks like a big ugly LCD TV.

Perhaps that's what it is, though. The Apple tablet you hang on your wall to CONTROL YOUR WHOLE HOUSE. DANGER, WILL ROBINSON.

That panel does not belong with that packaging. Someone put some lcd screen in an apple box an took some pics. No photoshop here boys, just someone with too much time and an apple box.

An yeah, a light from heaven always DOES shine down when I open an apple product. How'd you know?

I'm not going to call fake on it... I learned my lesson after the MDD which I still say are to ugly to be a real Apple product.

That said, if for example this were wall mountable I could see Apple doing that.

That pointless little ridge-ette where the screen meets the surrounding bezel is very un-Apple-like, design-wise. I am really impressed by the fact that 9 pages later, there are still believers over at AI. This is beyond stupid.

I have hope that the new iMac is much more intresting than an LCD and CPU together. Seriously, the casing around the LCD in the box does not look like Apple design. So I guess we are all going to have to wait till next week. If for some reason we see this during the keynote, then I will put my foot in my mouth...

Apple filed a patent for a wireless display. If this isn't fake it could be one of those. But it looks like a fake because of the lack of details.

-Box is too small to contain the keyboard, speakers, mouse, manuals, etc. Where are they anyway?

-No details shown on the box.

-No details shown on the unit.

-There's no stand.

-Apple also patented a new arm for the next gen iMac or some future computer. There's no arm on this.

I think it IS the new iMac.

Just like the new displays, except, thicker, and with a very similar stand, like the new displays.

It makes sense to me. Superdrive loading on the right side, possibly all bluetooth...

Good point. That one probably went 30 pages over there. It was a little bit less lame than these photos, but it was still pretty unbelieveable.

I tend to think its a hoax. Looks like a flat TV. The fact that we never see the box fully closed implies that the object is NOT what was really packaged in there. The "halo of light" (1st pic) and missing portion (2nd pic) imply to me that there is something on that end of the device being intentionally hidden (like .. maybe a logo or controls that would be beneath the screen of a flat TV). Plus ... all the reasons mentioned above (G5 heat issue, etc).

Not saying it can't be real ... but those pics are highly suspect.

The Photo is REAL but it's not the iMac.

That's a Powerbook box (My friend put his in his box and they match perfectly) here's the photo

It's just some display put into a powerbook box, and photographed in an elevator.

THIS IS THE INTERTNET!! IT'S IMPORTANT!!

So I made a flippant post without carefully considering each and every exact aspect of the total sum of my words IN THE LOUNGE! Sure, I'm an idiot sometimes and I made a stupid mistake, but please don't stop feeling that good thing, just on my account.

And technically, I "have" 3 PCs, but I never go near the damn things, except to configure user and email accounts. I prefer my 6 Macs.

Since when would you take a picture of something from the side. No, if you were getting a glance at a G5 iMac where you had enough time to take 3 or more pictures, you're going to look at it straight on. Who cares about the side. Also, the display is obviously glass. I've never seen an LCD that reflective, especially none of Apple's. Fake.

It's fake. See the brown spot on the white wall? the reflection on the monitor reflects the brown spot on the wall. Only problem is the angle. There is no way that you could possibly see the reflection of the brown spot on the monitor from that angle.
