Hey all,
Does anyone here actually play WOW on a Macbook non-pro? On my current G4 Powerbook I can sort of do it (laggy but works) but I'm debating if I should spend the extra for the MBP just for warcraft or not...

I will be getting a macbook in a few months and I hope to play WoW on it as well. Did you need to do any upgrades at all or is the macbook ready to go for WoW? I also read about using "bootcamp" through Windows XP to load WoW. I'm also looking in to playing wirelessly but I haven't found much information about that yet, any information would help greatly.

Here's the testing on 3D games at barefeats.com--namely, if you've got the $ for the MBP and playing games is important to you, that's the way to go

Yep, that's why gamers would never buy the MB or any integrated graphics chip.
However, if you look at the barefeats.com link from the above article to the MB performance on iDVD and iMovie, you'll see that the MB actually beats the MBP

MacBook 13" versus other Macs -- iMovie and iDVD
Pretty much anything with an integrated graphics card blows for games. Regardless of which operating system you are running, OS X will most likely blow more than windows because most OS X games are ports of their windows counterparts. With the exception of Blizzard and a few. I just purchased a MB with 2GIGs of ram and I don't even plan on trying WoW on it but thats cuz I have a Mac Pro.

I run WoW on my C2D MacBook with 2 GB RAM with most of the video options turned up to the max, and it runs fine for me. I'll post the actual video option settings when I get a chance.

WoW runs fine though I get more lag when playing wirelessly than on a dedicated wire.

I play World of Warcraft through an external hard drive, and through a ACD with my Macbook.

I play it on my C2D 2.0GHz with 2GB RAM, and it runs perfectly fine for my tastes. I'm not one of these people who obsess over very minute details though - I play games for fun. It certainly runs well as far as I'm concerned.
