My Flic scanner has trouble syncing with DL. Whether I start DL and then scan, or vice-versa, the bluetooth icon at the bottom of DL follows this cycle:

* Blue for 20 seconds
* Then turns yellow, 20 seconds
* Then red, 2 seconds

Repeat forever. At the transition from blue to yellow, the following appears in console.log:

2006-12-14 13:00:44.286 Delicious Library[7581] Error -536870208 closing RFCOMM channel for Bluetooth device.
At no point do DL and the scanner actually communicate, even though the bluetooth icon is blue for a short while.

The solution is to press the scanner button for 7-10 seconds, until it emits a short blip. After that, they can communicate. Until the next time.

This scanner had problems earlier: it failed to sleep. I followed a reset procedure sent to me by the manufacturer, and that cured it of its insomnia but introduced this new problem. Is there a custom reset procedure for DL?

Hardware: 20" iMac, Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM. Apple Bluetooth Software Version 1.7.9f12; Firmware version 3.1965.

Here is the official way to fix your scanner:

First, replace the batteries. The scanner tends to act weird when the batteries get low, rather than failing outright. Then, reset the scanner.

1. Find the manual that came with your scanner, and scan the barcode under the label 'Return to Factory Defaults'. (If you lost the manual, it's online at http://www.flicscanner.com/pdfs/cord...ser_Manual.pdf)

2. Open System Preferences from the Apple menu at the top-left corner of your screen, then choose the Bluetooth icon under the Hardware section. Click on the Devices tab, and if there is a device named CORDLESS, click on this name and then click on the button labeled 'Delete' on the right. You will be asked if you wish to delete the device, so press the Delete button again at the prompt. If there is no device named CORDLESS, you can skip this step.

3. Open Delicious Library, and then choose 'Enable Bluetooth Scanning' from the Library menu. A window may appear asking you to pair with your scanner. Follow the instructions listed in the window. Your scanner is now ready to use with Delicious Library.

This fixes the scanner 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, write to support, pointing out that you've followed the reset procedure outlined in the forum, and we will assume your scanner is defective and send you a new one.
