Two finger scrolling hack? ...

I have a 12" G4 iBook I bought in February, several months before this feature was introduced on the iBooks.
Has the software or hack for this feature been relatively reliable? How easy is it to install and remove?
Is the hardware between the iBooks the same? Does the hack just enable an otherwise dormant feature?
I'm tempted to find and install this thing, but admittedly a little concerned about messing up my machine. ;-)
All info on this much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Chris

The software works fine, I had it installed for about a week, but didn't like it personally. At home and at the office when I'm at a desk I have a mouse available. I generally only use the trackpad if I'm not sitting at a desk so the hack wasn't a great thing to me.
It does work as promised, it is reliable. Installation and removable are simple enough, typical double click and install, and removal, I dont recall exactly how but it is all in the read me file that comes with the software and is simple as well.
There are 2 different hacks you can try. The first is the one I used Sidetrack
The second appears to still be in beta, its called iScroll 2.
All info on both hacks are right there on the page. The first one, Sidetrack, is the one I tried and it worked as promised.
Hope that helps.

From what I understand, the trackpads are new hardware. Up until the latest rev of iBooks that come with scrolling trackpads, they used ADB for trackpads, now they use USB. SideTrack does scrolling by using the edges of the trackpad on my "old" ADB-based iBook. I'm not sure if it allows two finger scrolling on either type of trackpad, I know that 1.2 doesn't seem to have this feature on my iBook, but I prefer the edge method, if only due to habit.

i got my ibook about 8 months ago and installed iscroll2 (which is free, btw) and it runs perfectly. definitely worth a shot of you're keen to try it out, and the newer versions are a piece of cake to install and uninstall if you don't like it.

I really want to be able to right click without leaving the trackpad. What options are there for that? I have the newest iBook with scrolling trackpad so iScroll2 doesn't work.

Has anyone else lost the ability to Shift+Scroll for horizontal scroll with 10.4.3 and iScroll2?

I enjoy iScroll 2, works like a charm. I tried Sidetrack but didn't like it. But thats just me.

I'll cast my vote for iScroll2. I've been using it for 3 months on my two PBs (12 & 17 inchers) with no problems.
