(Sorry, can't seem to find any general faqs on this stuff...)

How do you delete standard apple screensavers (flurry, etc.)? iPhoto folders, etc. (...or maybe it's impossible?) Also, y'know that "choose folder" option? Well I chose a folder and now I can't delete them. Now I have like a million folders and screensavers and crap on that list on the left of the screensaver control panel and I can't seem to delete any of them (other than the ones that are in the screen saver library folder).

Basically, I just want to be able to control which screensavers I would like to randomly appear. If this is impossible, is there a good screensaver management utility instead?

Thank you oh wise ones.

The standard screen savers are in /System/Library/Screen Savers. However, as usual, deleting stuff out of /System could lead to unpredictable results, so caveat emptor...

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

Why delete them? What do you need to do that requires such actions?

Who even uses screensavers these days? If anything, the RSS Visualizer.

This is a computer-generated message and needs no signature.

All those extra folders on the side of the screen saver & desktop preferences should be your iPhoto albums. The "Choose folder" option doesn't keep adding folders down the list... only one extra one (the last one you chose) is kept there.

Unless you've modified things, here's what should be there (presuming OS X 10.4)...

Desktop:
Apple Images
Nature
Plants
Black & White
Abstract
Solid Colors
Pictures Folder
<one folder you've added with "Choose Folder...">
Choose Folder...
(divider)
Library (this is your whole iPhoto library)
... (your iPhoto albums listed below)

Screen Saver:
Computer Name
Flurry
Abstract
Beach
Cosmos
Forest
iTunes Artwork
Nature Patters
Paper Shadow
RSS Visualizer
Spectrum
.Mac
Pictures Folder
<any you've installed in /library/screen savers>
Choose Folder...
(divider)
<any you've installed in ~/library/screen savers>
(divider)
Library (your whole iPhoto library)
... (your iPhoto albums listed below)

Yeah, reason why I want to delete them is because I want to control which screensavers get used on random. Right so if I want a photo album, a matrix screensaver, and an aquarium (as a generic example)...to pick one of those three at random and NOT flurry, computer name, etc, then that's the only way I could think of doing it.
