I have a G4 12" iBook (800mhz), and I have recently been watching 640x480 QT (and Windows Media 9) files from E3 2004 (videogames event in California, if you didn' know).

Certain videos don't run very smoothly, and jerk around (they run perfectly on my PC at work). My old iMac DV400 had similar problems, but this I put down to the 640x480 videos being a bit too intense for the aging machine. Obviously I am quite surprised to see it happening on my iBook thats 3 months old.

Does anyone else have problems with high res (640x480) Quicktime and WM9 files on their Mac?

Thanks,
Tomac.

I have 640mb in the iBook, and the iMac had 348mb..

Its strange, its only widescreen high res vids that seems to be causing the slow playing.. It runs well for a bit, then slowsdown abit, like its showing it at half the framerate.

Have a link where we could download the same movie as you to test with?

The top one is members only, but any of the others will work too.

Seems all the high-res are members only, at least all the ones I tried.

Its weird this, late last night (1am) I tried again and everything ran perfectly smoothly, at 30fps solid..

Could the heat of affected performance of the CPU?
