I don't think so. I was under the impression that you couldn't use a version of Mac OS that was older than what originally came with the computer. In my case (a May 2001 iBook), that was 9.1.

thats right, the oldest version you can run is the version you're book came with. in the case of generation one ibooks (300mhz), the oldest you can run is 8.6. but if you installed the firmware update, you must run at least 9.0. the new ibooks, i would assume require 9.1.
