I didn't want to pollute the Gaming News and Discussion thread.

Has anyone here done much tuning in Forza 4? All I've done is slap in the best valves or a turbo or whatever gives the highest class rating, but I figure that I'm missing out on potential tweaks that may be better, especially in the lower classes. I've read about being able to put in a very large engine into the smaller cars - how is this done? Is it only for online play?

I think if you go into the upgrades menu for the car, so that you've got the icons for Aero, Suspension, Engine, Transmission etc, on the end there will be an icon for conversions, with drivetrain and engine swaps.

Not all cars have conversions, and they are only between the same manufacturer, so you can't put a Mercedes V12 in a Camaro. There is still fun to be had (I've had a quick google search), especially with the small hatchbacks like a rear drive Focus RS engined Ford Ka, and old cars like fitting the Skyline engine and 4wd in the Datsun 510 and Fairlady Z, there are a few Mazda rotary engine swaps (rotary MX5, Furai engine in an RX8), Mercedes V12 goes into the ML, CLK and a few others. Ferrari Enzo V12 goes into a few smaller Ferraris.

Modified cars can be used however you like, single player or online.

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

I only have the drivetrain swap, maybe I have to be a higher level or buy some sort of DLC - or play online?

I was also talking not just about the tuning that you do by changing parts, but the Tuning section (on the same menu as upgrade shop and quick upgrade). Its where you can change tire pressure, gearing, camber etc etc. I've watched a few vids, but after changing settings, I can't see the difference. Maybe its just a matter of practice.

I've managed to get comfortable changing gears, without using the clutch. I have the damage set to visual only so no damage to the car. I also tried turning off ABS, and the traction and steering controls - straight into walls. I tried and tried but I just couldn't do as well as when the assists were on. Guess I won't be playing online.

I sort of feel that by only playing FPSes like CoD, I've missed out on the racing games. So glad that a mate suggested Forza4, I actually like it more than Forza Horizons. Might even get Grid 2 when it comes out.

Not every car has an option for engine swap or drivetrain swap. If the car you have only has drivetrain swap, try a different car. Tuning and upgrades aren't unlocked with levels.

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

Forza is exclusive to the Xbox. Like GT5 and the PS3 IIUC.

I'm waiting for that to go on sale. 1600 points is ridiculous. They did however, just have an update that added challenges to the cars with 250 gamerscore added for free.

Cheers Crosbie, I'll download that one when I next get on.

Think that it was you that I was challenging in a rival match, can't remember the race. I've got ABS, traction control, braking line and manual gear changes (not using the clutch), and I cannot get near you.
