hi all
i know this sounds like stone-age but on my old mac, i used to use sound edit 16 (ya in Classic!!) to edit my mp3's. however, i recenty upgraded to the black macbook and i don't think it runs classic anymore. where can i get a similar app for OS 10.4.6 that is reasonably priced and easy to use? i mostly edit down long mp3's and do a fade in/out at the beginning and end.
thanks in advance,
mich

Audacity.

Even if it's slow in Rosetta, it's still free. And when a Universal Binary version inevitably comes out, you'll be all set.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

Sound Edit 16 was and still is fantastic, macromedia were dumb to drop it.

Have you tried Garageband? its multitrack, handles samples well and you already own it.

Dakar, there is an option via LameLib to save as mp3, although it does it VERY slowly zzzzzzz....
Moonmonkey, is Garageband able to fade tracks in/out and work with mp3s directly? I always had to convert mine to aiff in Sound Edit...

This might do it, I haven't tried it though. http://www.deepniner.net/mp3trimmer/

It's $9 bucks.

I still have soundedit... yay old crappy hardware.

Well, I just tried it.

Not bad, but yeah it's a little klunky.

I like the "try" feature, I couldn't get the fade to work though. Need to play with it a little more.

Good lord, Audacity is really buggy for me.

Just tried Amadeus 3.8.7

Pretty friendly little app., 15 day FF trial.
