It's been a few days. Apple should have done something?

(Edit: the Japanese Apple website has some words on its frontpage.)

Like what? They’re a tech company; their web site doesn’t have anything to do with the crisis in Japan.

Donating or in other ways helping in the massive amount of salvaging and reconstruction that Japan is now facing would be a decent move for them, but it’s not really anything that belongs on their web site.

(Edit: the Japanese Apple website has some words on its frontpage.)

Hm. Most of that makes a lot of sense, even without knowing the kana (“Earthquake … hurt by the tsunami … places … heartfelt (?) … extend (upon?). Deep grief … the devastated places … families … thoughts and prayers …”). But what the hell is that “watch dancing” doing there?!?

The only time the US Apple Store page has ever changed for a natural disaster is the 2004 earthquake/tsunami in SE Asia. If they changed the website for this I suspect they'd take a lot of heat (as they should) for doing nothing about Haiti. It's worth noting that Apple did allow donations through iTunes for Haiti as they are doing for Japan.

In all fairness the iPad 2 just launched... you can't expect Apple to downplay that for a bunch of dead people...

(just incase someone didn't realize the sarcasm there, I'm spelling it out right now.)

お見舞い you mean?

みまい【見舞い】
Ⅰ. 〔見舞うこと〕an inquiry; 〔見舞いの言葉〕an expression of one's sympathy ⦅for⦆⇒みまう(見舞う)
負傷者を見舞いに行った|I went to see how the injured people were doing.
暑中見舞い|⇒しょちゅう(暑中)
病人に見舞いの言葉を述べる|express one's concern for a sick person

Great to see you're still in here btw Oisín!

At this time of great sadness, we are thinking of any praying for the victims and their families.
