Just got a new iBook and I want to transfer my iPoto library to the new laptop. I have tried to copy the library over a firewire able but it wouldn't work. Anybody know how to do this??

Connect via ethernet and enable file sharing on your old box, then log in to it from the iBook (Finder Go>Connect to server...) under the old machine's user name. You should be able to drag and drop once you've mounted the drive in the finder.

I am a little confused! Can I do the transfer with a firewire cable or only through ethernet?
Can you also explain how to get the photos on the new iPoto again.....
Thanks

Just what about Firewire doesn't work?
Are you starting up one of the two computers in Fireware Target Disk Mode?

Yeah I set up the old iBook in Target mode then connect to the new iBook with a firewire crossover cable. Then I try to copy the iPhoto library to the new iBooks version of iPhoto by dragging the folder onto iPhoto. It acts like it is copying the file for like 10 mins then it says that there is an error and it cant read the files.
This is the way I have copied over my iTunes library but it wont work for iPhoto.
I even called Apple telephone support and they didn't know how to help me. This cant be that hard can it???
