Damn if Apple isn't good at getting my money!

Dual 2.5Ghz G5, 250MB Drive, Blue tooth Keyboard/mouse, 2.5GB RAM, Nvidia 6800 256MB, 23" screen, HP printer, MS Office and Halo the game... around $6,800 after the tax man got his cut!

Waiting patiently until late August for the whole thing to have been shipped!

You are right dude... and I did... the $6800 includes $420 on 4X512 3200DDR 400mhz Crucial RAM... was tempted to get the 2.5CL stuff, but for 25% more, I didn't think it would make enough difference, so I got the 3.0...

Good advice however, APPLE is a rip on RAM.

I, personally, couldn't sit still until August.

That's a nice rig.

I go on vacation two weeks in July, that will help a bit, but I still have 1/2 of Jul and all of Aug to wait!

I checked the benchmarks on Halo with the 6800 Ultra, you can actually get close to 100 fps on it. That's pretty damn amazing for Halo. The 9800XT gets about 65 fps.

I'm so jealous

But if you think 6800$ is a lot, here in Europe the same thing would cost about 8800$ at current currency rates.

And you didn't get the 30 inch display?

mmm not bad You KNOW you want to upgrade your order to a 30". The temptation is too much for you. You will cave in as you begin to think up clever reasons why you need a 30' monitor. Here's a few to get you started - "August is a another pay cheque away, so that will cover some of the difference". "By then the whole computer world will have moved on, a 30' monitor might not be too excessive by then"...

I'd just like to add that I'm also taking the plunge, albeit not to the same degree. I'll be getting a dual 2.5 GHz G5 with the GF 6800. No 23" display though (just a 'mere' 17" Samsung LCD).

It won't be my first Mac, but it will be first Mac desktop as well as my first dual-processor and first 64-bit system.

In some twisted way, I'm glad I don't have that amount of cash to get the new G5 dual 2.5. I couldn't put myself through the torture of waiting ALL SUMMER LONG for it. I hope you have the patience of Job, you're going to need it. Every hour of every day you'll be thinking about it... it'll be like an itch you can't scratch.

Yes I'm jealous.

Something to help pass the time.

I just ordered my G5 2.5 from MacConnection two days ago and they said that Apple had called and said it might be shipped the first week of July. They had 100 on irder so I am among them. Hope it is true.

The had a special - overnight free shipping (no tax), so I got all my other things, including a Canon Powershot digital camera, photo printer, creatures, etc. overnight. Now, if I can just get that computer so I can use all my stuff.....

I ordered Halo and Star Trek EF 2 to play on it... It's been over a year since I've played a 3D shooter, I'm prolly very rusty.

Well guys, I originally order it with the 20", but then talked myself into the 23".... the leap to 30" was just too much $$$... plus, frankly I don't think I would like to look at a 30 screen from that close while I compute... Maybe later. I'll add a second monitor (20") for more real estate.

God Bless you, you should talk to my 73 year old mother in Northern California who is still trying to figure out how to double click on her Mac!
