Today, in minute 18 of the R.L. show, he made it a big point that Macs are more secure against --removed for the welfare of this thread-- because their systems don't have outsourced support. I don't listen everyday, but is Apple product placement a common occurence in this radio show?

I don't think it is paid product placement. Rush is just a big Mac fan. From what I have read he's got a couple PowerBooks. I think he might use one in the studio.
One should never stop striving for clarity of thought and precision of expression.
I would prefer my humanity sullied with the tarnish of science rather than the gloss of religion.

Yeah, people who like Macs aren't afraid to show their enhusiasm for them. I'm just glad that Michael Moore doesn't use Macs, afaik.

Rush isn't a big fan of Macs, he is a fan of Big Macs.

What's wrong with Micahel Moore using Macintosh? Couldn't be any worse than Limbaugh... couldn't be any better, either.

Seen him lately?

The comparisons to Michael Moore end where they are both far to one end of the spectrum.

However, put them on a teeter-totter and Rush would end up flying straight up. Contrary to the photography that is often shown of him in the press (OLD photos that show him as a fat guy), he is in quite good shape.

As far as Rush and Macs, he's always been a Mac user and often talks up the virtues of Mac. He has talked about Tiger quite a bit, including about an hour or so on the day it was released.

I believe he uses a G5 but also has at least one PowerBook. But a guy with his money may have a few other machines.

Oxycontin does? How would it do that? It's not an amphetamine or anything.

They do have outsourced support, though. I once called in for some replacement OS discs for my iMac and got a guy from India. I spent about an hour trying to give him my address (seriously) because he couldn't understand me at all. My favorite part was trying to give him the city and state:

Me: Lawrence, Kansas.

Him: Spell, please?

Me: L-A-W-R-E-N-C-E.

Him: Lawrence Campus?

Me: No, Lawrence, Kansas.

Him: Please spell Campus?

Me: KS.

Him: Please spell Campus?

Me: KS. It's an abbreviation.

Him: Please spell Campus?

Me: KS. It's an abbreviation.

Him: Please hold.

<about 5 minutes later>

Him: What city and state please?

Me: Lawrence, L-A-W-R-E-N-C-E, Kansas, K-S.

Him: Lawrence, Campus?

Me: No, Kansas. It's abbreviated K-S.

Him: How do you spell Campus?

Me: K-S. It's an abbreviation.

Him: Please hold.

Repeat ad nauseum. Eventually he started doing this:

Him: What county please?

Me: What? You don't put a county on a US mailing address.

Him: What county please?

Me: You don't need the county. It's just <address>, Lawrence, Kansas, <zip>.

Him: Please hold.

Never did get those replacement discs, either. After probably a dozen calls, several promised discs that never arrived, and several discs that were not only corrupt but for the wrong machine anyway (PowerBook G4), I eventually ended up driving 30 minutes to the Apple Store in Kansas City and getting them to burn me a copy of an iMac disc on a dual-layer DVD+R, with the result that my OS install disc looks pirated, being a DVD+R with a description written on it with a Sharpie. Needless to say, I'm not actually too thrilled with AppleCare's support.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

I'm happy to have Rush Limbaugh as a fan of my beloved Mac.

The fat jokes wear a little thin after a while.

Funny thing is when someone can't beat someone else's arguments, they result to name calling and picking on that person's looks.

Simple fact is, Rush is a 55 year old man, and compared to most 55 year old men, he's in good shape.

Rush loves his mac but HATED a few of the printers, or print spoolers he's used. He used to hit the printer, and slam the print tray a LOT!!

Imus in the Morning et al uses Mac's too. Lot's of iPods too.

Rush has always been a Mac guy. Pretty cool actually, to have a famous person so openly an advocate of the Mac platform whether you agree with them or not.
