Was just wondering if i could pull off a ttheme that captured the essence of Smoothicons. This is what I have so far:

Yes, I know the border isn't possible in Aqua apps and that it might look weird in apps such as Safari...but I don't care. Hey, I'm not a great (or even professional) graphic designer....but it doesn't look to bad. I might finish this theme or I might not, just like you might like it or not. That's all for now.

edit: the blue toolbar button appears only when pressed

I thought about this type of theme for a long time. Ater seeing those icons... I thought about how much they DIDN'T match the overall look of Aqua. The best looking theme for Mac OS X is *sigh* Aqua... it's the most consistent theme out there. Heh. This theme is lookin' cool though. Can't wait to see how it comes out.

Aqua Extreme is the most consistent theme out there. Aqua itself is... just... NOT.

Pretty cool. Just two comments to make, regarding the toolbar buttons:

1. I think it'd be better to have the thick outline around the buttons the same width on all sides... it looks a little funny with the top outline being thinner than the rest.

2. The Finder Forward button should have its shadow going up, not down.

perhaps add a bit of a highlight to the window corners like the icons do?
Oh and change the colours the grey and bright aqua pills are pretty awful looking (just the colours though i like the idea)

Defiantly? Who are you defying? ... Just kidding, whenever I use spell check I either have to choose definitely or defiantly and they do look very close..

Anyway, I agree with the comment about having the outline be the same thickness. I think that they are only different in the icons to add a sense of perspective (unless you are gonna try that with the elements as well).

I did too start it....that's no mock-up, that's the real deal. And I loooove Smoothicons. I use them with most themes, including Aqua even though both (Aqua and Smoothicons) don't exactly match in styles. So I'm likely to work on this theme so I can have a matching theme and icon set.

And I agree, I prefer Max's Aqua Extreme, although I prefer he had use plastic buttons for the Finder rather than Aqua.

The forward button is a result of having cheated by flipping the back button...but I'll fix that. I also find the outline weird on the Finder buttons...not easy making a dynamic outline So I'll just make it even.

Not sure what I'll do for the menubar, titlebar and backgrounds...I'll have to think about how to "smooth" them.

Stay tune for updates.

haha oops I do that all the time, I type real fast then I butcher a lot of words, so I go back and right click on them and select the right one. Every now and then I select the wrong one Oh well. At-least the wrong word is spelled correctly.

you definitely have to keep that smooth ripple that is used on the buttons for the rollover menus.

damn the "candy" coloring is fun.

I agree with Sage, and sushiism's highlight suggestion. =)
However, there are a few other things I would change:

1. The widgets need to be remade smoother.
(They need to be perfectly round. At the moment they look a little eight sided)

2. The window outer corners need their masks adjusted...
there are some lighter pixels showing through.
In fact it might be better to fill in the outer background of the window image. (outside the line), so that the mask is creating the outer edge of the line.

3. This is a personal taste choice. I would replace the flat grey window colour, with a blue gradient to match the icons, adding the darker blue inside the lower and right black edge, and using the negative highlight from the bottom of the icon, for the growbox.
