Does anyone know how to remove the Timbuktu menu bar icon??

I believe you just remove the Timbuktu section from \Library\StartupItems and reboot.

This is correct. You have to remove the startup extension to get rid of the menu bar icon. Of course, if you run the application, it is going to reinstall the statup extension every time.
