Rain is again seeping into the underground store of Apple's iconic Fifth Avenue NYC store, disrupting operations as staff move electronics out of harm's way and move receptacles to catch leaking water coming into the store. Recent heavy rains early in May damaged the store, flooding the below-ground level after a slow leak turned into a full-fledged pouring incursion. The problem is thought to be a drainage issue. The issue may have occurred during renovation work done on the large glass cube that functions as both the entrance to the store and one of NYC's most-photographed local landmarks. In 2011, the cube's design was rejigged to use larger but fewer glass panes -- just 15 instead of the original 90. Apparently, no permanent fix has yet been found for the issue.
The Fifth Avenue store is the only Apple store that is open 24 hours a day, every day (barring emergencies or product launches), reports the Gothamist. It is said to be the most profitable store on Fifth Avenue, and is crowded at nearly all hours. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the SoHo Apple Store is also having an issue with leaks, but this hasn't been verified.

This falling apart of the flagship Manhattan retail store pretty much tells the story of the rest of Apple's declining empire. Apple's share price has been underwater for quite some time and Android has deluged the entire smartphone industry, practically drowning out the iPhone's market share. Apple looks poised to be plunged forever into Davey Jones locker or a massive burial at sea. Everything that could possibly happen has gone wrong with this company since Steve Jobs untimely demise. I guess he wanted to take Apple's business with him to the grave. Apple appears to be heading in that direction.

Ignorant comment regarding the supposed imminent demise of Apple #2,593,445
It wasn't true 25 years ago, and it isn't any more true today.

Yes, the store that is crowded 24/7 is clearly doing poorly.
