I recently started using a Hosts file that maps things like ad.doubleclick.net to the loopback IP (127.0.0.1), in order to defeat their despicable spying. However, whenever I get a page with one of these banners, I end up with an error window "The specified server can not be found." (or something like that)

So, does anyone know either how to turn off that message, or else a more clever way of defeating these stupid banners?

Using Netscape 4.6 - in Preferences - Advanced - unchecked
"Automatically Load Images & Other Data Types" and almost
never encounter any error messages.

If I want an image, I just click on Images in the button bar.

Works for me.
