Just bought my first Mac computer and was amazed to find
that if it didn't come with isight (as a Mac Pro does not), then
you are sh*t out of luck!

My Logitech Quickcam Pro 4000, that I used under XP doesn't
work with ichat, nor gets recognized with iChatUSBcam nor maccam.

You can see I tried everything.

So, the big question is, what quality webcam actually does
work with Mac OS X and (at the very least) iChat?

Thanks in advance!

Actually, my stupidity....

I didn't know that isight made a camera for desktops. I always
thought that they were built into the notebooks.

I didn't think Apple sold the iSight anymore. It's not in their online store.

Before the notebooks had cameras Apple had a standalone iSight that clipped on to your monitor. They've since discontinued it in most countries.

Please at least search the forums before posting a question. There are at least two other threads about webcams for OSX on the front page of the Consumer Hardware and Components, including this one which has your answer: http://forums.macnn.com/57/consumer-...ves-to-isight/
