OK, so at my last job, we had a program within the scanning software that if we entered the line screen (found via one of those plastic screen-finders), we could de-screen as we scanned to prevent moire.
I was spoiled by that and now I don't know how to scan a printed image and get rid of the line screen so I can re-print it.
Any ideas?

How are you using it, for comps or for stealing art?

Legit of course.
For comps for student projects and sometimes, I have clients that want to use product shots that were previously printed and they no longer have the digital files for.

That looks great. Too bad I only have a basic Canon scanner here at home. I'll check out to see if this is loaded on some of the campus machines.

You might find a copy being sold on eBay. Alternatively, try a used computer store. Maybe they have a copy sitting around.

SilverFast is a good option and can be pruchased as a stand-alone app. Click on A-D's link to Lasersoft's site. Navigate to the demo page to determine if SF is compatible with your scanner. It is pricey, but perhaps they offer a student rate.

My cheesy scanner isn't supported. I suppose I could just unsharp mask til it goes away. Produces crap for the most part tho.

before you unsharp mask, experiment with noise>despeckle/reduce noise.
