Calm down, calm down...I'm in the same boat. Switching to a 17" PB, first Mac ever, etc...but the same exact thing happened to the first TiBooks. Announced in Jan., received in March, so it's too bad really...I'd say by next week SOMEBODY will at least have theirs, and further shipments will follow, next week will meet the "10" in the 7-10 week initial waittime from Jan. 7th.

Although it's tough right now, when you get it you'll forget all about the fact that you had to wait so long.

If I get so much as one thing......... it will be HELLO REDWOOD yes Can I SPEAK TO THE PR PERSON IN CHARGE

I have no idea how you can claim they have bad customer service on a product you don't even have yet. What did they do? Tell you they couldn't ship you one immediaitely b/c they weren't ready yet? Geez man, you expect the world to revolve around you?

And expect some typical Rev. A issues...calling Apple and blowing out steam will yeild absolutely nothing.

Sounds like you have already made up your mind. If you are that unhappy then do something about it. Cancel your order, buy a Dell or HP or Gateway laptop. But stop you bitching and moaning because WE DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT!!!

Irrational person that can't write in complete sentences, bought a $3300 laptop. Yeah right.

If your story is true, then I apologize. However, we don't need dumb switchers so do us all a favor and cancel your order now.

I really fail to comprehend the attitudes in some of these forums with regard to the time taken to launch new Apple products, specifically the 17".

Firstly, Apple have NOT (as of yet) exceeded their promised shipping date. Secondly, it is not a new concept that products take time to launch and are often eagerly anticipated. This is regularly experienced in both the electronics industry and the automobile sector.

The attitude shown by the person initiating this thread is utterly mindless - how can one criticise a product/service prior to actually receiving/experiencing it? How can one criticize a company when they have yet to break any promises?

Wake up and smell the coffee!!! Apple makes great products, don't hammer them with mindless slander before they are even launched! U.S.E. Y.O.U.R. B.R.A.I.N. and understand the issues.
I merely like XP; I'm having a passionate love affair with OS X

Yep..agree..All this 17" whining stuff is getting pretty boring. If you guys really need a powerbook NOW just get a Tibook and you'll be playing with your new computer by tomorrow...

Tell you what, though, this is all very good news for Apple. The whole forum is full of switchers all anxiously waiting for their top of the range Poweerbooks. I reckon that, as soon as the 17" ships, Apples market share will more than double!

I would hope this happens!

I received an e-mail from Steve Jobs in reply to mine and he said "it was going to be shipping soon." (for what it is worth).

No kidding, I showed the manager at the Apple store and he confirmed for me that it was Steve Jobs. He was more excited than I was.

Anyway, same story, different day, they'll soon be on their way.

Damned if I don't still have that poetry bug!!!

=peace out=

I'm a switcher too... Helping to double Apple's market share :-)

Here in Switzerland, the TV commercials started on 3/3 and will end on 3/17 (schedule on www.apple.com/chde).

So my prediction: Start of shipping on 3/17. That would make sense with the TV ad campaign.

Learn to spell before you accuse my parents of buying this for me. I've been working the past 4 years and saving my money in Money Market Funds to afford this, as well as other college expenses. Don't judge me if you don't know me.

There is a story on www.powerbookcentral.com to the effect that they would start shipping on the 17th. I have my order with US retailer MacMall, who right now is telling me 'late March'. I suppose 'late March' could be next week.

Oh Lord!

First, "jojomana", calm the heck down. Attacking "Assassyn" is calling for your own death on this forum!

My suggestion, cancel your order. You don't sound like you need the 17-inch anyways, so jump out of line now so I can get mine earlier! Cause' I need it.

Here is my opinion...

I've been using a computer since 1990 (back in the days of using Prodigy to surf message boards). And it has always been a Wintel machine (except for in high school when Apple had a deal with my school... I was forced to use an Apple). After using a PEECEE and touting how superior they are to Macs, I began to experience what I call the Windows disease. Things always work for me on my XP machine. Always! However, they never work the way I want them to... NEVER!

I can never seem to get my Windows box to do everything it is supposed to, and that is what I am sick of (and what is causing the switch). I know no product is perfect, however, with my recent use of OS X, there is no going back!

So for jojomana, go buy your Dell, Compaq, HP or whatever you want... I'll gladly wait out another couple of weeks for my Powerbook and be twice as happy as any PEECEE laptop owner.

(take your griping elsewhere, please)
