Hi all...

I will be getting a new PBG4 17inch notebook with money from a research grant (I know... lucky me).

The question I have is this... I also have a iMac 17inch for my desktop and recently purchased a 512MB stick from 18004memory. The Memory they sent me was actually a 512MB PC2700 SO-DIMM.

Will this RAM chip work in the new PB? If so, I think I'd rather chuck the PB up to a GHz of RAM as it will be my primary machine and I'll be doing lots of number crunchin.

Should be OK - just upgraded my 17" using memory of exactly the same spec. The only possible problem would be the height of the SO-DIMM - it's pretty tight in there, and I understand that you can get varying sizes. You'll also need a Phillips size 0 driver to remove the access plate.

BTW, you're going to love the 17" - this is my first Mac and it's the best purchase I have made in quite a while.
I merely like XP; I'm having a passionate love affair with OS X

Since a few days I am also the proud owner of an Apple 17inch. Okay the screen might be gigantic but he perfromance is just as great.

And even when an upgrade is being released in the next ten minutes I will not complain. I choose for this computer as I liked the price performance value and nothing will change that. And quite often an upgrade is at first even a bit more expensive.
