How do I go about maxing out my RAM capacity on my 12" 867 PB? I've heard I can go up to a GB worth of RAM.

Thanks.

Well you can go to Ramseeker.com and see how much the cost of memory is. I think the cheapest I saw for 1Gb SODIMM for the Powerbook is aroun 2-300 dollars. too much for right now if you ask me. I just got a 256Meg to bring me up to 512Megs. Down the road I'll get a 512Meg chip or wait til the 1Gb one drops.

Yeah, I've got a 512 chip for it already. I actually was wondering if i could take out the RAM that's on the motherboard to put in another 512.

Thanks again.

No, you cannot unsolder the 256 MB on the motherboard. You can get up to 1.2 GB using a 1 GB DIMM combined with the onboard 256 MB.

He has a RevA though... it only has 128 on board. The max is supposed to be 640 (128 on board + 512 stick) i guess he's asking if he can load a 1gb chip into it even though the max is supposed to only be 640... i'd be curious myself considering i have a RevA, but i don't see enough funds becoming available for a 1gb stick anytime soon, i'm still trying to sever $100 from my account for a 512 stick...

May God Be With You.

Yeah, RevA. Looks like I'll be stuck with buying a GB chip or just sticking it out with my 640.

Thanks guys/gals.

so even though it is supposed to max at 640, you can put a 1 gig chip instead of the 512 and it will work?

Yes, you can put the 1GB DIMM in it and it will work.
