So I'm having problems here. My roomie and I just got Cable in the apartment. I don't have my Airport here yet, which may be fried because for the life of me I couldn't get it to work with my Dad's comp last time I was home, but Roomie has a Linksys BEFSR41 EtherFast 4-Port router. The problem is that when I hook my computer up directly to the cable modem, I connect perfectly fine (it's what I'm using right now), but when I hook the modem to the router and the router to my computer, it doesn't. I've checked Network settings and it's being assigned an IP, and there's lights flashing on both the modem and the router, so I'm getting a connection, but nothing loads. It just spins at "Contacting http://......." until it finally gives up. Any idea what's wrong?

power down your cable modem for a few minutes and then retry.

If that doesn't work, use the MAC address cloning feature of the router to clone the hardware address of your Mac so that the modem thinks it is still the Mac that is attached directly.

Will that mess up my roommate's PC connection though?
