turns out that the guy took the pictures down as a kind request from Apple. He states that apple is aware and their engineers are working on the issue.

IMO it may be a design flaw but we don't know the full story on this one, it could be just an isolated event.....had no problems with my MBP or the MagSafe

I just cannot get worked up over this. It was clearly an abused machine.

If you saw the pics.... the mag safe area was scratched all up, and it looks like one of his cats relieved itself on the connector....... thats my 2 cents.

If you have a half a brain, then you know cat urine has nothing to do with this. Think about all the batteries Apple recalled.

But then again you might notice that a majority of the battery issues have been bad batches of cells from OEMs and not anything exclusive to Apple or its connection technologies.

Yeah, I noticed that Apple doesn't manufacture any of their stuff. BTW, those batteries are exclusive to Apple laptops. I just hope that this issue doesn't bring down the stock price any more than it already has.

There is an awful lot of corrosion in the original pics that were taken down. Rust does not result from a electrical short fire.

It's stupid for anyone to make a decision to NOT buy the computer because of a burned adapter. I'm sure that there has been fried iPod adapter plugs, Cinema Displays, Sony Vaio machines and so on. So if one gets turned off because of something this small then that's just plain stupid and ignorant.
