Electric wiring/amperage question

If I disconnect the heat element from a blowdryer, would simply running the fan assembly draw the same amount of electricity as with the heat element?

It would likely pull the same voltage (though I'd have to see a schematic or get a look at the insides to guarantee that), but the whole assembly will pull less amperage without the heating element.
The fan itself will probably (again, I need to see it to be sure) be pulling the same amount of amperage either way. Is that what you're asking?
What exactly are you doing?

Most blow dryers have a switch that lets you choose whether to use heat or not. If you don't use heat, then you save nothing by disconnecting the heating element.

if you put it on the COLD setting , only the fan will pull current, not the heating element.

There are probably safer ways to accomplish this.
Don't accidentally isolate the fuses. They're there for a reason.

Be sure and leave it plugged in so you can easily test it.
