I have two macs, a 7100/66 and a Quadra 650. They both have Ethernet (AAUI-15) <-- --> plugs on the on the back. I have not been able to find these cables now that everything has gone to USB.
1)How do they work? (appleshare I assume)
2)Can you plug one to another or do you need a hub in between?
3)Any good web sites on small networking on older macs?

You need ethernet transceivers which plug into the back of the mac and allow you to connect rj45 cables to the mac.

If you are only using 2 macs, you can use a crossover cable to connect them. This can act kind of quirky however, so I strongly suggest you get a small hub. These aren't very expensive.
