I've got an extra iMac Rev. B (just bought a new computer) and I'm looking to get some Linux exposure.

So I've decided to install Linux on the iMac. I know only a little about Linux. Can anyone recommend a distribution?

I know Mandrake is only in beta for PPC, but the reviews for the Intel version have been pretty positive...is that the version to get, upon its release?

Anything else I should know?

Thanks!

Linux-Mandrake 8.0 for PowerPC has been updated to Release Candidate (RC1) You can download it at http://www.linux-mandrake.com/en/ftp.php3#ppc or send me an email and I can burn you a copy for a minimal fee.

Yellow Dog Linux is another good distro. This is what I ran on my iMac rev. B.

There is SuSE Linux too at http://www.suse.com

LinuxPPC can be found at http://www.linuxppc.com the distro has not been updated yet for a while but it will run on your iMac rev. B
