I saw this while looking at the screenshots for "Wallet". Wallet is a Mac OS X App that stores keychains and passwords and stuff... Anyways... you gotta see this. This is a pretty cool looking dialog.

There should be a gizmo theme out there! Something with that police tape type look and stuff... I remember there used to be some for kaleidoscope (I'm pretty sure it actually came with the App download)

Would you happen to be talking about Arlo's never released K2 scheme Mekon?

Back in the days, I got my hands on a beta copy and it was awesome

Oh man, I remember wanting that SO bad! You are so lucky to have had a beta.
I agree an OSX theme like this would be cool. I'm thinking something like the upcoming HalfLife theme (from the mockup contest), with that whole industrial, dirty metal look, but with a bit more of a hazard/police tape thing going on.

heh seriously, they have a cool message board, and seem to be v helpful when i ask for stuff to be implemented in iVideo etc... so im sure they would help

EDIT: doesnt iSync have something similar when it warns you aboutchanging a certain persentage of stuff?
I free'd my mind... now it won't come back.

My guess is that it's just some image file they put in there !? Could it be done ?

thats my guess. since they know the exact size and the placement of the text they prolly just used an image.

i downloaded it so i could peek at the resources but its not one of those kinda apps.

I agree it is probably just a single image...
however, yes it could easily be done. just put the stripes into the top wide corner bevel areas, and put the text area into the stretchable top central bevel fill.
(Don't know where the widgets would go on this though... I guess you could make little flashing warning light widgets. LOL)

Personally not a huge fan of the window widgets... what if they were metallic? I dunno... I remember someone had a theme going on in these forums though that had a similar idea. Don't remember what it was called though.

I like it it's simple and glossy, very easy on the eyes, well except for the yellow but it's cool anyway

That idea is obviously borrowed from Apple iSync's warning dialog

yellow and black caution stripes were never meant to be glossy.

Heh. I remember the image I made when I first saw that dialog in iSync...

I think I was trying to make a different point there, but... yeah.

Well I actually finished that aqua titlebar mod if anyone wants to host it... It's actually kinda fun to use for a little bit, I'm using it now. The caution stripes are much better when glossy, IMHO.

Edit: I added a small drop shadow under the widgets in the "release," which I think has a nice effect. I also rebuilt the widgets from scratch (I love it when photoshop dies...) and they look slightly better. I have a .zip file ready with the guiKit, .tpark file, and all the PSDs, which is what I will send to whoever wants to host.

Yes, I think someone may have tried to magnify it too much. Got so big it fell off the screen. =/

I sent it... but if the attachment doesn't work, I wont be surprised. Sending an attachment over a microsoft-owned email service with an out-of-date microsoft emailing client? Let's all pray
