Cool.
Hopefully we don't suck too much bandwidth. I can host 'em from my iDisk, just as an alternate source.

These are 100% fake. I could prove scientifically, but I'm to lazy now.

Remember, this is not how the interface will necessarily look in the GM.

Jaguar still had the old 10.1 appearance until very late - 6C92 or 6C98 I think.

So it could all change - and let's hope they get rid of that god-awful brushed metal in the Finder. I mean, having it in one-window apps is ok (iCal, iPhoto, etc.) ...but having 10 brushed metal windows open - ugh.

Luckily there's themes.

The Finder, Mail and Safari are mini'd into the dock.

The Finder is supposedly 'selectably themed' according the original post at 4OSX.

or maybe this person decided there were one too many windows open for the screenshot and simply closed Mail's window. We'll find out this monday.

the mail window is in the dock, minimized. so apparently minimized windows dont get 'exposed', which makes good sense.

Agreed.

In some ways I kinda hope this is a fake. I mean, aside from some appearance changes, there's not that much new functionality.

It certainly seems bizarre to have labels that don't change the colour of the actual folder icon. But that brushed metal finder 'theme' must be selectable - there's no way they would force that monstrosity on us, right?

WTF is the Finder doing with a brushed metal interface? For sake...

The gradient title bars are revolting, not to mention inconsitent. For one there is nothing else in the Aqua GUI that has a gradient, and for another focussed windows have a gradient whilst non-focussed are pinstriped. Bleh

The system preferences has decided to change Screen Effects back to being Screen Saver - that doesn't seem right?

Glad to see a revamped activity monitor, that has been desperately needed.

I love the coloured labels. You can clearly see by default no folders/files have a coloured label, so if you don't need/like them then don't go applying it to anything - but if you do then you can apply one of a number of different colours for whatever purpose. Cool!

The new frame widget is very cool - rounded corners and darkened pinstripe (overall the whole area is given a depressed look). Better than the old one that merely wiped out the surface area.

Not sure if I like the idea of dividing lines in menus again, I quite liked menus having options split by empty space.

Yeah, just like OS9 - except the coloured box around the text is horrid. Why not do what OS9 did? Sigh.

Oh well.

I like it, apart from the brushed metal finder. Interesting to see the difference between the 4OSX forums and here though - they're mainly positive, criticising what they don't like, whereas here most of the replies I've read have been "that sucks" or "OBVIOUSLY a fake". Just feels more negative...

I dunno, it doesn't 'feel' like an Apple design, the new pin-stripes and color tone don't quite 'work' for me. It looks more like one of those god-awful themes.

What makes me suspicious is the lack of new features presented. It appears to mainly be a rehashing of stuff that's been around since the public beta coupled with some wishful thinking - no major innovation. Take labels for example: I don't think these would have been too difficult to re-introduce pre 10.2 and were probably left out for a reason - part of a larger plan.

Also noted is the lack of polish, the video icon for iChat looks like it was bolted on, the Finder icon in the dock looks 'wrong' and the BM Finder looks tacky and flies in the face of Apple's own HI guidelines.

I could be wrong, maybe the publisher is embargoing some of the bigger changes so as to avoid incurring the wrath of Steve? Perhaps this is from a very early pre-Alpha build when major changes were still being made? I might even grow to like it, the first time I saw the new buttons in 10.2 I thought they were too flat and indistinct, but now, looking at pre-10.2 buttons I think the old look was over saturated and blurry.

I like it.

It's very nice.

Why the complaining about brushed metal look?

I like that too. It looks great with my Titanium Powerbooks and when I get a new aluminum Powerbook it will look great with that too.

Expose is a really great feature to have.

Hopefully Safari will be gold master.

We'll see!

I am not sure if these are for real. AFAIK Apple's security is insane these days. Simply paranoid. To quote Andy Grove: `Only the paranoid survives.'
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

there's 1 thing that i'm thinking....someone remember how was in Puma the icon in the system preference panel of Desktop? ....i don't want to fall in error but i remember that Puma had a different default desktop than Jaguar and the icon in system preference was a thumbnail of this different desktop.....so why Panther should have (following the ppics) a desktop icon equal to Jaguar?

i'm saying stupid things? i don't remember well....

Because it's so cool; just like being stuck in a bad Enlightenment theme from 1995 all over again!

Seriously; the brushed metal look should either be pushed out to *all* apps in the OS widget system, or they should ditch it. Having apps that look different (eg; UGLY) from other apps is stupid. Half the reason I browse with Camino most of the time is that it isn't as ugly as Safari.

I'm sorry, but that looks like ass. The gradient sucks, as does the grey; too boring. Also, who on earth would use a brushed metal finder?

I have no comment as to whether I think it's real or fake, but I hope it's fake.

I noticed this also.. but, in jaguar, they didn't have the "final" desktop picture and new icon made to fit the new image till very very late in development.
