I think this is something that could have been come up with by 2 independent groups without knowing about each other…

The iPod one is expanding on their past ads, and this lugs one may have been influcenced by Apple's original iPod ads.

But then again, it could just as easily be a copy. And orange/yellow gradient on a city scape. Thats not too unique.

I don,t see how the apple one is a copy.

Ok we have to color Orange. And Then a city in the Background.... methinks it's just a logical evolution of the black silhouette dancing....

Dude, everything down to the background animation is the same..

How can that be when the Luggs ad was released in 2002? The first silhouette ads appeared in late 2003.

SWF, no one is saying Apple DIDN'T copy.

We are saying there is no proof either way.

Anyways, have you seen the new Nokia Mobile Music ads? All the people in it are silhouettes dancing in front of colored backgrounds. Especially the first sihouettes use an identical yellow background to the apple ads.

Another story in the New York times on the copycat ad.

""People at agencies have been able to watch it over and over for years," said Rory Braunstein, a group creative director at Avrett Free who worked on the Lugz account. "It's hard for me to think this is a coincidence because it's so shockingly close to the ad we created"

SWF could you not bump this back up until you have an actual story that backs up your claims instead of posting the same info over and over again that ads nothing new but repeats the same old thing over again?

Apple always copies ideas they didn't create. And, typically, Apple has the unmitigated gall to patent/copyright those borrowed ideas.

Apple usually does the best job, even with stolen ideas.

Irrelevant. I am not saying I can prove it, nor doI make statements as if they were factual, when they aren't.

Funny I was expecting TBWA to release a press release of "We copied the ad, please sue the pants off us".
