hello, is there any program I can use to modify a drives CREATION date without erasing the contents?

I'm wondering why you would want to do that? Would you want to move it forward or backward in time?

I need to move it back...

i screwed up a drive... we have a hard drive (FW) at work for our retrospect backup

i was having a problem with a drive and ran diskdoctor
stupid me ran it on that backup drive, and "fixed" the creation dates
now i need to restore some files (a full drive that burnt out actually)
and retrospect says the drive has the correct files, but the creation date is not correct (it does list the correct date it should be so I know what to set it to)

Use this script:

tell app "Disk Copy"
set creation date of disk "Disk Name" to date "Date"
end tell

This requires the use of Mac OS 9's Disk Copy.

Would it be something like: set date "12/25/01 12:17pm"\
Or do I need to use a certain format?

why even sweat over the creation dates? just restore and be done with it. no one with give a rip.

As I said before:

and I will not let me proceed with the resotre, I asks for the correct volume

try resedit. maybe it will let you modify. if that won't work, I think you're out of luck.

ResEdit doesn't work on disks, and can't read or change the creation or modification date for folders. Use the script I wrote earlier.
