Sooooo... a bunch of us got convinced to go and see Vantage Point last night. From the previews and some of the actors involved, it looked like it might be an okaaaaaaaay type of who-dunnit feature.
...wow. I must say, one of the worst, over-clichéd movies I've seen in a long, long time. (I'll admit, I avoid such like the Plague, but still....) The acting was horrid. The dialogue was cringe-worthy. The plot was predictable.
Highlights:
1. the groans of the audience at the third run-through of the same scene, from a different vantage-point; the gales of laughter by the fourth time.
2. The guy in front of my, starting the slow-clap after a particularly cheesy scene with the President and Dennis Quaid, followed by myself and cheers/jeers from the entire audience.
Don't see this movie. You will want to stab your eyes out afterwards.

I'm disappointed to hear that. I was looking forward to seeing Salamanca on the big screen.

Salamanca is a very old city in Spain. Think Christopher Columbus and Cervantes (Don Quixote) old. I could see the old city section in the trailer. Today, Salamanca is still a university town with a famous nightlife. Lots of fun, if I recall correctly.
I just looked and one article said it was a set re-creation built in Mexico.
Oh well.

They made the best steel in Europe, particularly swords.

Wow, that's some random information, I like it!
I've never been to Spain, but it's been on my list for years. Maybe I'll to fit Salamanca in when I finally get the chance.

So sad. I was kinda/sorta looking forward to it.
The slow clap, when applied correctly, is always hilarious.

Yeah. It was really a touch of genius on his part. It was at a scene which had just enough forced/awkward emotion to make it perfectly appropriate. If you do go, certainly think about starting one up yourself....

Ooooh, but see, then the guilt of knowing that I totally ripped off someone else's idea and acted as if it was my own...
It might just be unbearable.

I saw it also. Through out the entire movie my friend and I predicted almost everything in every scene. And it was quit funny when everyone in the audience groaned every time the clock went back to 11:59:58... It was a very frustrating movie.
