This would make an awesome floating Apple Store:

The only question is where to station it in order that it pays for itself. I'm thinking Dubai.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

Why would an Apple Store in Dubai only sell a dozen iPads?

It was an attempt to point out the economic disparity in the country and how all the money being thrown around globally isn't an indicator of overall standard of living.

But I should have checked my facts first.

That looks totally James Bond Villain. Also, how to keep the patio chairs from washing away in bad weather? Looks like a wave could just charge in there.

If Apple opened an official Apple store in Dubai, they would make a killing. As of now, there are are only a handful of unofficial stores, The biggest being a chain called iStyle. All apple products sold in the Emirates are imported from European distributors and sold at ridiculous markups. Since residential mailing addresses are non-existant in the UAE, shopping online is a huge hassle as well.

Moral of the story: The middle east is an economic powerhouse right now, and Apple needs to get an official presence in the region.

I was more enthused about the idea of a cool looking floating Apple store than where to put it.
