Okay.. I have a friend who lives in Paris, France and her 17th birthday is coming up soon. Since she owns an iPod mini, I want to send her the iTMS gift certificate in Euro.
So yesterday I checked the iTMS France and tired to purchase a €20 worth of gift certificate, but out of luck. I am living in the USA, my Apple ID address is linked to the US store/address. Later, I tried to click "change country" and see. I had to have a valid France issue credit card and address in order to make a purchase. I quickly sent a feedback to Apple .
Later, I went to the iTunes France website and used that gift certificate link, but it just brought me back to the iTunes program. In the meantime, that girl told me that she wasn't allowed to give her home address and I doubt that she has her own credit card. All I know is her email address and first name.
I really dislike how it works since it's just a gift certificate but out of state. I'm not trying to send someone a US iTMS gift certificate to a Japanese (for example since there's no iTMS Japan yet) and uses in the US store. Anyone has experience on it? Thanks.
This morning, I received an email from them.
Dear Kenneth,
Thank you for contacting the iTunes Music Store.
Currently, iTunes Music Store Gift Certificates can only be redeemed in the country where they are purchased. It is not possible to send an iTunes Music Store Gift Certificate to a recipient in another country.
