Post predictions, hopes, worries, discuss new products (if any) after the keynote.

I hope for new aluminum iMacs, and maybe a iMac Mini to replace the Mac Mini. Oh, and new displays.

Maybe a iPhone DK.

iMac: 20 and 24 inch models, all aluminum

iMac Mini: 17" model, still plastic
Signature depreciated.

New iMacs seem likely to me, and maybe Cinema Displays. I think that they will kill the 17" off totally though.

Since they've said 10.5 has been delayed until October, and that they will be showing off a feature complete version (which will be given to developers), I don't think they will be announcing it in the "it's for sale today" way.
Chances are good that the MacBook you ordered will come with 10.4. If they announce a release date you might fall into the category of people who get to upgrade for free.

I think there will be little talk about the iPhone, a lot of 10.5 (including iLife and iWork) and new iMacs. I don't think they'll be brushed metal, but more akin to white plastic versions (maybe black too if they're keeping with the MacBook look) of cinema displays. 20", 24", and I'd love a 30" iMac.

If no iMacs, then probably on Tuesday we'll see an Apple Store update with speedbumped iMacs.

Regular iPods have not been updated in a while, according to this buyer's guide. I'm not sure what Apple has in mind for iPods, since I can't see a phoneless iPhone coming out of Apple anytime soon, since it'd take away from the iPhone launch. Maybe they'll just ignore them.

Who knows
I'm excited though.

I'm guessing not much more, although new iMacs would be sweet.

I'm going to go out on a limb and predict hardware announcements: a new Mac model and a revision to the iMac. Reports are everywhere about the discontinuation of the Mac mini, and they'll want to announce a new model at some big event, even if it's just as a "Oh, by the way, new Mac!"

I'm also predicting that Steve (and/or a friend of Steve) will brag about graphics benchmarks on Leopard.

I predict people put too much expectation into Leopard's "secret features". They will be nice features but not spectacular, so everyone will whine and complain about them.

I thought that kind of went without saying when people were predicting that the new version of the OS would be previewed.

People will complain tomorrow regardless of what Apple says.

Tomorrow evening there will be a link to stream the entire keynote on Apple's QuickTime page. You can read the keynote live from numerous websites

Here are my guesses.

I don't see new iMac's but I do see new Monitors or and the MBP's we got last week. I think 70% of the keynote will be about 10.5 and developers needing to prep their apps for Core Animation.

My dream is for this:

Apple does a quick history re-cap of of the history of GUI's and the Mac's and cracks about how Windows XP was Mac 10.0 and Vista is 10.3 and Microsoft considers this the cutting edge GUI for the next 5 years.

Apple will take the Mac UI to a whole new level thanks to core animation and it is 5 years ahead of Vista.
Changes I am really wanting is a UI more like the iPhone with the new OSX finder much like the iPhones list view.

More apps are fullscreen with nifty animations. For example the new Delicious library will have 3D like boxes for your movies and you can flip them around and interact with them.

I want Apple to get rid of the RED, GREEN and YELLOW buttons in each window as Green never works the way it should and using Yellow to minimise things to the dock is pointless with Expose most of the time.

I like the way dashboard works so when you mouse-over the window only then does the close circle appear.

The dock gets a makeover and no longer holds folders or minimised windows.

The Desktop is dead for the mostpart and you can now have a "wallpaper" that animates and dynamically changes for the time of day and weather.

.Mac will get a huge makeover and have strong tie ins with Google.

New 10.5 ready versions of ilife with fancy UI's and a cool new version of iTunes that ships and only works with 10.5.

No more stupid UI things like mounting servers and dragging removable media to the trash can to eject.

Developers need to take the next 3 months to prep the apps and for ones built around core animation they have to make a 10.5 only version and an optional 10.4 or bellow level.

Steve will also talk about making widgets for the iPhone or more complex apps open for 3rd parties by the end of the year.

None of it could actually happen but that is my dream.

Supposedly Steve's slides have been leaked:

Apple Bushel©

iPhone@home sounds like a bit of a stretch, but I'm a sucker for 11th hour rumors and all the other stuff sounds about right. Feel free to take the supposed leaked notes with a truckload of salt.

Using the Safari beta in OS X. It's nice, though not terribly different than 2.0. Ooh, I just noticed: the window warns you if you try to close while typing in a box (like this one!). Also, I like the new tabs, though I wish it used the new interface instead of sticking with Brushed Metal.

Does anyone know if the new Leopard interface has an "official" name?

If it is true, I would hope that would mean it would just be free for everyone. I mean, if they're basically being powered by Google, why would they charge for the same thing Google provides for free?

Being one of the three paying .Mac subscribers left, if that were the case, I hope I'd get some sort of upgrade or re-embersment for my remaining membership.

Well, I was actually joking because that was the original idea behind iTools. Mac.com e-mail addresses were supposed to be a bonus for buying a Mac and a way for the Mac to get visibility as a system that people actually use. Then they rebranded it to .Mac and started way overcharging for it.

Anyone close enough to Steve to know this would be fired for leaking this info.

Curious... I wonder if Steve writes multiple fake keynote speeches just to track people who would leak the information?

About five people know the keynote speech and those are the top dons. Below them are the stage management guys who are told at what moments to operate machinery, wheel out props and tune the lights. The special guests are top developers who are only told when to come on to demo their wares. In total there are about two dozen people working on the keynote at any given moment.

What surprises me is that so little seems to have been leaked. Usually somebody's "seen something they shouldn't have" and blabbed it to all the rumor sites by this point. This year, not even a dumb screwup at the Apple Store where they put a new product up early.

Oh, and predictions: no new hardware. This will be all about Leopard (plus iLife and iWork, of course). Not even the iPhone will be a major player, as we already have a lot of information about it.
