Sometimes I'm switching back and forth quickly between a web interface to a CMS and Dreamweaver. To save a file in dreamweaver and upload it to an ftp server I quickly hit cmd-S and cmd-shift-U. Unfortunately I sometimes hit this key combination quickly when I'm on the browser which pops open a save dialog from the cmd-S. When I hit the cmd-shift-U before I realize I'm in the wrong mindset, Firefox freezes until Opera launches and complains that it doesn't have a valid URL. I have no idea why Firefox would launch Opera but it's really annoying to realize I've done it again and have it just wait until Opera is done launching to quit it and go back to Firefox. Any ideas what's going on here and how to prevent Opera from launching?

Sounds like command-shift-u is your shortcut for the Open URL in Opera service (look under the Services menu located under the application name in the menubar). You need to change the shortcut or remove it if you don't want to use it. One way to do this would be to remove Opera from your /Applications (or ~/Applications) folder and put it elsewhere (then log out and back in to reset the Services menu). Another would be to download Service Scrubber 1.1.3 - MacUpdate
